Our next club meeting is on August 19 (6PM) at the Harveytown Park. This is going to be a Family Day Picnic with a group run along the new section of the PATH.
If you would like to bring any covered dish to share along with the club, please let us know so we know what to bring. The club will be doing a cook out with Hot Dogs and Hamburgers. We will run and then we will chow down! Everyone is welcome to attend!

Free Running Classes offered
Crossing the finish line of a 5K race is all about taking the first step, and Marshall Recreation Center is making that step easy with a 5-week training class. Experts will work with runners at their own pace to prepare them for the WV 5K Championship. If it's your first time running a 5K, the class and registration to the race is FREE. A 100% refund will be given after you finish this race!
The first 50 people to signup for the class will receive a refund of the cost of the class and entry into the WV 5K Championship upon completion of the class and the 5K Championship. Hello Huntington Road Runner Club members!
As you are arranging your schedules for this spring please consider running the Mission M-Possible 5K on May 12.
Marshall University School of Medicine and Global Medical Brigades is sending a team of students and physicians to Honduras for a medical mission trip this summer and will be using this race as a fund raiser.
This year, we are offering free registration to HRRC members with memberships effective January 25, 2012 or prior, this does not include a t-shirt. As this is an event benefiting an awesome cause, we ask that members pay $5 for a shirt, if they want one.
To receive your free entry, go to tristateracer.com, print off and complete the registration form and send it in! Please make a notation that you are an active member (if only before 1/25/12) of HRRC and fill out the t-shirt information if you want one. If you plan on getting a shirt, you must have your registration form submitted by April 28 to be guaranteed a shirt, with check made payable to MU Global Medical Brigades for $5.
Please note, you cannot use the online registration to receive the free entry, and memberships effective after 1/25/12 will not be eligible for the free entry.

12/13/11 Proposed New HRR Mission Statement
Below is a proposed new Mission Statement for the Huntington Road Runner's Club. This Mission Statement is up for public review at this time. A vote will happen at the January Meeting of the Huntington Road Runner's Club.
PROPOSED MISSION STATEMENT: "The Huntington Road Runners Club is a non-profit community organization that promotes the competitive, recreational and healthful benefits of running in the Huntington, West Virginia area by supporting races, fostering a sense of community through running related social activities, educating the public about running, and encouraging runners of all ages and abilities"

We are also looking for members who want to travel together to the Mrytle Beach Half-Marathon in Feburary. Please email Pat Riley (Pat@TriStateRacer.com) if you are interested in training and carpooling to this race.
